iRacing helmet design
Your helmet, painted on the real paint kit — not around it
Describe the helmet you want and Ailivery paints it onto your actual iRacing helmet template: crown, sides, chin bar, rear spoiler and vent covers, each treated as the part it is. The visor aperture, vents and ear cut-out stay exactly where the kit prints them. Export a TGA for your paint folder — driver suits work the same way. Free to start, no Photoshop.
A helmet is not a small car, and it shouldn't be painted like one
A generic AI image generator
- Hands you a picture of a helmet, not a paint kit you can use
- Cuts vents and slots that your helmet doesn't have
- Paints over the visor aperture and the ear cut-out
- Puts a logo on one side and forgets the other
- Fills the vent covers and side plates with random crops of a bigger graphic
The Ailivery way
- A real paint on your own helmet template, exported as a TGA
- Openings stay as the kit prints them — none added, none moved
- Paint runs up to the visor edge and stops
- Both sides of the shell carry the same marks
- Vent covers, side plates and spoiler each get their own clean treatment
Rules written for a shell, not for bodywork
It knows it's a helmet
Upload your paint kit and Ailivery reads what the sheet is. A helmet sheet switches the whole rule set — the shell, chin bar and spoiler are named as helmet parts, not as doors and a hood.
Openings stay openings
The visor aperture, the vent openings, the ear cut-out and the strap slots are whatever your kit prints. Nothing new gets cut, nothing gets enlarged, and no rim or shadow gets painted around one.
Upright from either side
The crown, top vents and spoiler top face up; the ear cut-out and chin opening face down. Your stripe runs front to back over the crown, and someone looking at the finished helmet reads it the right way up from either side.
Small parts stay parts
Vent covers, visor side plates and trim get one deliberate treatment each, in the design's own colours — not an arbitrary slice of a bigger graphic.
How helmet design works
- 1
Bring your kit
Download the helmet paint kit for your sim and upload the sheet. Ailivery works on your own template file — it doesn't host helmet kits for you.
- 2
Brief
Say what you want in plain language — a colour scheme, a country, a theme, or your own team look. Upload your logos and Ailivery places them; it never invents sponsors.
- 3
Refine
Chat to adjust, draw an edit straight onto the paint, and rewind to any earlier version.
- 4
Export
Download the TGA and put it in your paint folder. For iRacing that's
Documents\iRacing\paint, namedhelmet_<your customer ID>.tga.
Driver suits
The same for your race suit
iRacing ships a driver-suit paint kit alongside the helmet one, and Ailivery treats it as its own thing too — sleeves, chest, back and legs, with your logos placed where you put them. Upload the suit sheet, paint it, and export a TGA to Documents\iRacing\paint as suit_<your customer ID>.tga. Match it to the helmet and the car and you have a full set.
Other sims put a helmet in the paint kit too
Bikes and karts
GP Bikes, MX Bikes and Kart Racing Pro ship rider and helmet sheets in the same kit as the bike or kart. Upload the helmet sheet and paint it the same way.
Match the car
Painted a helmet you like? Use the same brief on the car and get a set that reads as one team — see the iRacing paint templates list for cars.
Bring a design in
Concepted a helmet in another AI tool? Upload the picture and Ailivery recreates that look on your real helmet template — see how that works.
iRacing helmet design, answered
Where do I get the iRacing helmet template?
From iRacing's own paint kit downloads — the helmet and driver-suit sheets come alongside the car kits. Ailivery paints the file you upload and doesn't host helmet kits itself. The iRacing guide walks through the paint folder.
Will it paint over the visor or cut new vents?
No. Ailivery takes inventory of the openings your sheet actually prints — the visor aperture, the vents, the ear cut-out, the strap slots — and treats that list as complete. Paint runs up to a printed edge and stops. It won't add a vent it remembers from some other helmet.
Do both sides of the helmet match?
Yes. A helmet's two sides are printed on one wide shell piece, and a mark added to one side gets the same mark on the other — unless you ask for a single side on purpose.
Can I paint a driver suit as well?
Yes. Upload the suit sheet and Ailivery paints it as a suit, not as a car. Export it to your paint folder as suit_<your customer ID>.tga.
How do I get the helmet into the sim?
Download the TGA and drop it into Documents\iRacing\paint under the name iRacing expects — helmet_<your customer ID>.tga. For GP Bikes, MX Bikes and Kart Racing Pro the export keeps the sheet's own filename so the sim's packer picks it up.
Do I need Photoshop, and what does it cost?
No Photoshop. You describe the helmet and refine it visually. You can start free, and after that Ailivery runs on paint credits that never expire — a commissioned helmet from a pro painter typically runs $15–45 and is well worth it for a one-off, and credits stay well under that. See pricing.
Ready to paint your helmet?
Upload your helmet paint kit, describe the look, and export a TGA that drops straight into your paint folder.
