BeamNG.drive custom skin workflow
AI Livery Generator for BeamNG.drive
Ailivery is an AI BeamNG.drive skin maker: it paints original artwork on the vehicle’s own template and builds the whole mod for you — a ZIP you drop in your mods folder.
How it works in BeamNG.drive
- 1
Brief
Take the vehicle’s skin template out of its ZIP in the game folder, rename it for the vehicle, and upload it with an original design direction.
- 2
AI paints
Ailivery paints the artwork onto that template, so every panel lands where the vehicle expects it.
- 3
Refine
Iterate on colour, panel flow, and your own logos until it looks right.
- 4
Export and drop it in
Download the mod ZIP — already built around your vehicle — and put it in your
modsfolder.
A BeamNG skin is a small mod, and we build it
What you get
One ZIP holding three files: a jbeam that adds the paint to the vehicle, a material that points at the artwork, and the painted PNG. Nothing to assemble, nothing to edit by hand.
The name is the vehicle
BeamNG keys the whole mod on the vehicle’s internal name — the same name as its folder in the game. Ailivery reads it off the front of the file you upload: pickup_myskin.png paints the pickup. Get that name right and the rest is automatic.

BeamNG.drive skin questions
What file does BeamNG.drive use for skins?
A ZIP mod. Inside it sit a jbeam that declares the paint, a material that points at the artwork, and the painted PNG itself. Ailivery builds all three and hands you the finished ZIP.
How does BeamNG know which vehicle a skin belongs to?
By the vehicle’s internal name — the same name as its folder in the game. That name keys the mod folder, both filenames inside it and the material, so Ailivery reads it off the front of the template you upload: pickup_myskin.png paints the pickup.
Where do BeamNG.drive mods go?
In the mods folder of your BeamNG user folder — not the Steam install. The game launcher opens it for you under Manage User Folder.
Where do I get the skin template?
Inside the vehicle’s own ZIP in the game folder. Look for the PNG whose name contains skin_UVs — that is the UV layout you paint on. See the install guide.
Does it work on mod vehicles?
Usually. The mod binds to a vehicle whose body material carries the vehicle’s own name, which is how the official vehicles are built. A mod vehicle that names its body material something else will take the ZIP and still not show the paint.
Is Ailivery official BeamNG software?
No. Ailivery is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by BeamNG GmbH.
