Assetto Corsa install guide
How to Add a Custom Livery in Assetto Corsa
Install your custom skin with the Ailivery Windows helper, or create the skin folder by hand, add the DDS and thumbnail, then select the skin in game.
What you'll need
Original Assetto Corsa
These steps are for AC, not Assetto Corsa Competizione.
Car template
The car's paint template and the car model folder you want to skin.
Ailivery export
A DDS or PNG export, plus a
preview.jpgorlivery.pngthumbnail for the UI.
Install a custom skin in Assetto Corsa
- 1
Export the artwork
Download the DDS or PNG from Ailivery after refining the livery.
- 2
Create a new skin folder
The Ailivery Windows helper can create this folder and drop the files in for you. To do it by hand, use the typical Steam install path — exact paths can vary by version and install location.
New skin folder...\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\cars\<car_model>\skins\<new_skin_name>\ - 3
Place the files
Put the DDS in the new folder. Add
preview.jpgorlivery.pngfor the in-game UI thumbnail. - 4
Select the skin
Launch AC, pick the car, and select your skin. See the Assetto Corsa official modding forum for AC community and modding guidance.
If the skin doesn't show up
AC versus ACC
Assetto Corsa Competizione uses a different Documents\...\Customs system; this guide is only for the original AC.
Folder nesting
If the skin does not show, confirm the DDS is directly inside the new skin folder, not one folder deeper.
Missing thumbnail
If the skin works but the UI looks blank, add the preview or livery thumbnail file.
