How to Add a Custom Paint Job in Euro Truck Simulator 2

Design a custom Euro Truck Simulator 2 paint job with AI on your truck's cabin template, then get it in the game: download a ready-to-use .dds, drop it into a paint-job mod, and enable it in the in-game Mod Manager.

What you'll need

Install a custom paint job in Euro Truck Simulator 2

  1. 1

    Design and export

Upload your truck's cabin template to Ailivery, design and refine the paint job right on top of it, then export the artwork.

  2. 2

    Download the DDS

Ailivery gives you a game-ready .dds — DXT5 with a full mipmap chain at power-of-two size, exactly what the game loads. No conversion needed.

  3. 3

Drop it into a paint-job mod

Place the .dds into your truck's paint-job mod at its cabin texture path, then repack the folder as a .scs archive (a renamed ZIP). If you don't have a mod yet, a community tool such as Paint Job Packer generates a valid skeleton, and the SCS modding wiki documents the paint-job structure.

  4. 4

    Enable and select

Put the .scs in your mod folder, launch the game, enable the mod in the Mod Manager, then pick the paint job in your truck's paint shop.

    Mod folder (Windows)
    ...\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod

If the paint job doesn't show up

Wrong cabin template

Each truck and cabin has its own UV layout. If the artwork lands crooked, you painted a different cabin than the one you drive — re-do it on the right cabin template.

Mod not enabled

Confirm the .scs is in ...\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod and switched on in the Mod Manager, above any conflicting mods.

DDS in the wrong slot

The .dds has to sit at the cabin texture path the mod's def files point to. If nothing changes in-game, the texture isn't where the paint job expects it.

Design one with AI

Create original artwork in Ailivery and export it as a game-ready DDS for Euro Truck Simulator 2's paint-job mods.
