Automobilista 2 install guide
How to Add a Custom Livery in Automobilista 2
Design a custom Automobilista 2 livery with AI, then get it in-game: export a DDS from Ailivery, pair it with a matching XML override, and install both into AMS2's Custom Liveries Overrides folder — with the Ailivery Windows helper or by hand.
What you'll need
Automobilista 2
The Custom Liveries system from v1.0.6.2 or later.
Car paint template
The car's paint template and an override XML to copy or edit.
Ailivery export
A DDS export that matches the XML override you place beside it.
Install a custom livery in Automobilista 2
- 1
Export the DDS
Generate and refine your livery in Ailivery, then download the DDS.
- 2
Prepare the XML
Copy and edit an existing override XML as the template for your DDS.
- 3
Place both files
The Ailivery Windows helper can install the DDS and its XML override into the Overrides folder for you, or place them by hand in the typical Steam install path — exact paths can vary by version and install location.
Overrides folder...\steamapps\common\Automobilista 2\Vehicles\Textures\Custom Liveries\Overrides\ - 4
Load it in AMS2
Launch Automobilista 2 and select the custom livery. See the Reiza custom liveries forum thread and AMS2 wiki guidance for current details.
If the livery doesn't show up
XML mismatch
The DDS and XML need to match. If the livery does not show, check the XML references.
Wrong folder
Use the Custom Liveries\Overrides folder under the Automobilista 2 install.
Older install
The documented Custom Liveries system is for AMS2 v1.0.6.2 or later.
Design one with AI
Generate AMS2 artwork in Ailivery, export DDS, and pair it with the XML override.
